Updating your details with Service SA will update your:
- driver's licence, provisional licence or learner's permit
- boat licence
- proof of age card
- vehicle registrations (including cars, caravans, motorcycles or trailers)
- boat registrations.
Change address
You can change your residential or postal address online with a mySAGOV account.
Log in your mySAGOV account using your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin.
- Select Update address
- Enter your new address details
- Select Finish
If you have a postal address that is different to your residential address, make sure you update this too by selecting Update postal address or Add postal address to add a new one.
What happens next
A sticker with your new address will be posted to you. This must be placed on the back of your licence or permit card.
If you use the mySAGOV app, your new address details will be displayed on your digital licence or permit immediately.
Registration renewals will be sent to your new address, or you can opt to receive renewals by email or SMS.
Other details you can update
Email address
You'll need to complete all 8 steps, including logging back in with your new email, to complete the update.
- Log in to your mySAGOV account using the current email linked to your account. Make sure you use your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin
- Select My account
- Select Change email address
- Enter your new email address and select Save
- Select log in again in the Almost there prompt on the screen
- Log back in with your new email address. This will send a verification link to your new email
- Go to your email account and select Verify your email address in the email from mySAGOV. You'll be directed back to your account.
- Select Back to EzyReg Account (located at the top right-hand corner of the screen). This will direct you back to the home screen of your account.
Your updated email address should now display in the top right-hand corner of your home screen.

Mobile number
Depending on how you have chosen for mySAGOV to use your mobile number, you may need to follow both of the processes below to correctly update it.
Two-factor authentication (2FA)
If you have 2FA enabled, follow these steps to update your mobile number or change your preferred verification method:
- Log in to your mySAGOV account using your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin.
- Select My account.
- Select Manage two-factor authentication.
- Select Remove.
- Select Continue.
You can now set up 2FA again, this time entering your new mobile number or choosing a different verification method.
If you're having trouble logging in, you can recover your account instead.
Notification preferences
If you receive your registration renewal notices or direct debit notifications to your mobile number, follow these steps to update your mobile number:
- Log in to your mySAGOV account using your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin.
- Select My account.
- Select Change mobile.
- Enter your new mobile number and select Save.
- To complete the process, you will need to SMS the verification code shown on the screen to the mobile number provided.
- You will receive a text message to confirm your mobile number has been verified.
- Click Done on the screen in your mySAGOV account.
Bank or credit card details
If your bank account or credit card details have changed, you'll need to update these in your mySAGOV account.
To get started:
- Log in to your mySAGOV account using your web browser (not the mySAGOV app). Select Start now below to begin
- Select My account
- Select Payment methods.
How to update the expiry date of your credit card
Follow these steps if your credit card is already saved in your mySAGOV account, and only the expiry date has changed.
- Under Your payment methods, select the credit card you wish to update
- Select Update
- Enter the new expiry of your credit card then select Save
- Any existing direct debit agreements using this credit card as the nominated payment method will now be updated.
How to add new bank account or credit card details
Follow these steps if you have a new credit card (with different card numbers) or a new bank account that you'd like to save in your mySAGOV account.
- Under Add a new payment method, select the payment type you wish to add
- Select Next
- Enter your new bank account or credit card details and select Add/Save
- To make sure your existing direct debit agreements use this new payment method, select Home (located at the top left-hand corner of your screen)
- Select Vehicle list / manage direct debit
- Select Modify vehicles on direct debit
- Select the vehicles that you want to use the new payment method for and select Continue
- Choose the new payment method from the drop-down list. Then, choose your contact method and check the rest of your preferences. Then, select Continue
- Select I agree
- Select Finish.
Name
To change your name on your driver's licence or learner's permit, attend a Service SA centre with:
- a completed advice of change of name/address (76.8 KB PDF)
- evidence of identity (original documents must be provided)
- your current South Australian driver's licence or permit.
You will need to:
- pay a replacement licence or permit fee of $20. Alternatively, you may choose to renew your licence if the expiry date is approaching. In this case, only a renewal fee will be charged.
- have a new photo taken if your signature has changed
Gender
To register or amend your gender, you must present one of the following documents at a Service SA centre:
- a statement from a registered medical practitioner or a registered psychologist
- a valid Australian Government travel document, such as a current passport, which specifies your gender
- an amended state or territory birth certificate, which specifies your gender
- a state or territory gender recognition certificate, or recognised details certificate, showing that a state or territory registrar of birth deaths and marriages has accepted your change in sex will be sufficient evidence.
Providing you have a supporting document from the list above, you can change your gender to one of the following:
'M' - male
'F' - female
'X' - this option is available if you do not identify your gender as either male or female.

Medical conditions
If you have a physical or mental impairment that may affect your capacity to drive, you must declare this to Service SA. Based on this information, you may need to undergo a medical examination to confirm your fitness to hold a driver's licence.
Downgrade or surrender your driver's licence
When you no longer require a class of licence other than car, you can downgrade your licence by having any additional classes removed eg LR Light Rigid, R Motorcycle.
You can also surrender your licence if you no longer wish to drive or are no longer fit to drive.
