What is abuse?
Abuse affects people from all walks of life, although women are far more likely to be victims.
Not all abuse is physical. Other forms of abuse include emotional, verbal, social, sexual, neglect and financial exploitation.

Elder abuse is the infliction of physical, emotional or psychological harm on an older, vulnerable adult at the hands of a family member, a non-family member in a trusting relationship, or a paid carer in an institution.

Abuse of older people in aged care homes
If you are concerned about the abuse of someone who lives in an aged care home phone the Complaints Investigation Scheme on 1800 550 552. All calls are confidential and you can remain anonymous.
