Commonwealth Government or private sector
If a Commonwealth Government department, or a private sector organisation mishandles your personal information, the Privacy Act gives you the right to make a complaint.

Making a privacy complaint
If you think a South Australian or Commonwealth Government department, agency or private sector organisation has mishandled your personal information:
- complain to them directly
- give them a reasonable time to respond (usually 30 days).
If you’re not happy with how your privacy complaint was handled, advice and help to investigate your complaint is available.
