[08] Lifeline creates opportunities for all people and communities to give and receive care that affirms life, instills hope, and nurtures the human spirit. Accessible pathways to care are created through our vital services and activities that offer healthy choices and relieve suffering—restoring mind, spirit and relationships. Lifeline currently has more than 11,000 Australians who volunteer their time to our Lifeline in order to provide services that support other Australians. Dedicated volunteers and community spirit is the backbone of Lifeline.

Volunteering work extends across many sectors - the arts, community services, education, emergency services, sport and recreation, health, tourism and the environment. For some volunteers it is a one-off contribution. For others it is a life-long commitment.

The CFS is an emergency service organisation that deals with a vast array of emergencies including: bush and grass fires (Wildfires), structural fires, storm damage and floods, motor vehicle accident rescues, hazardous chemical spills and industrial accidents. As a CFS Volunteer there are many and varied roles for you to undertake. Your personal safety is an integral part of standard operational procedures. The CFS provides full training and a range of support services to its Volunteers.

The South Australian Government is committed to strengthening services and support for the volunteer sector to help create a stronger community. The Office for Volunteers is focused on building the Government and volunteer sector partnership, and providing advice which enhances the Government's capacity to identify, prioritise and respond appropriately to the needs of the sector. The Office for Volunteers facilitates a number of programs and initiatives that are specifically designed to help support, encourage and promote volunteering in South Australia.
