Despite the popularity enjoyed here by local and visiting blues acts, and the continuing success of blues and roots festivals interstate, Adelaide cannot boast a big-billing blues event – until now. For one night only, the Queens Theatre will be transformed to recreate the juke joints of 1930s Mississippi and will feature the finest blues talent this city and this country has to offer. What’s more, the South Australian Blues and Roots Society’s 2008 Blues Awards will be presented on the night, and one local act will open the bill as winner of the Killing Floor Blues Challenge.
