A taxi roof sign with a light must be fitted to all taxis.
When the roof light is on it means the taxi is available for hire. The roof light must be on when the taximeter is not calculating a fare and the taxi is available for hire.
When the roof light is off it means the taxi is occupied or not available for hire. The roof light must be off when the taximeter is calculating a fare or the taxi is not available for hire.
