Drivers/operators of heavy vehicles are required to carry the applicable gazette notice in their vehicle when operating on South Australian roads.
Codes of practice documents set out all the requirements, in addition to the Road Traffic Act, that you must comply with when operating a vehicle (you do not need to carry codes of practice documents within the vehicle).
You can download and print the applicable gazette notices, codes of practice and information bulletins on this page.
If your operating requirements cannot be met by a gazette notice, you may need to apply for an oversize and overmass heavy vehicle permit.

Changes have been made to the escort charts for pilot vehicles and SA Police escort requirements for oversize loads. An Information Bulletin titled Changes to SA Police and pilot escort requirements for oversize loads in South Australia explains these changes and also provides a copy of the updated charts.
Prior to any journey drivers/operators must determine the approved route being travelled/operated on via the RAVnet online map system or published within applicable gazettes, codes of practice and operational guidelines.
Drivers/operators of vehicles operating under individual permits must comply with any conditions within that Permit including adherence to specified vehicle routes.
