Controlled access buses

Gazette Notices

Operators and drivers of controlled access buses with the below configurations or tasks must comply with and carry the listed gazette notices in vehicles.

Codes of practice

Drivers and operators of controlled access buses of 12.5 to 14.5 metres in length must comply with the Code of Practice for Controlled Access Buses. Drivers and operators of 13.7 metre controlled access buses Code of Practice for 13.7 metre Controlled Access Buses.

Approved routes

Immediately prior to any journey drivers must determine the approved route using the the route network(s) published on the DPTI website.

Note: Route maps do not need to be carried within the vehicle in South Australia.

If you wish to travel on a route not specified in the applicable route network, or if your operating requirements cannot be met by a gazette notice, you will need to apply for an oversize overmass heavy vehicle permit or request a new route assessment.
