Dental and oral health

Veterans Card, Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card holders may be eligible for dental services provided by the South Australian Dental Service.

You may be able to get a home visit for dental services if you are house-bound or living in an aged care home. You'll need a doctor's referral.

The South Australian Dental Service may also be able to help you with dentures and repairs.

Preventing falls

Falls are one of the major causes of injury for older people. For more information on preventing falls visit the HealthInsite website.

Vaccinations and immunisation

If you're over 65 you can get a free influenza (flu) vaccination and pneumococcal vaccination. Your doctor has more information.

Personal alert systems

Personal alert systems can be used to alert relatives, friends, neighbours or a monitoring centre in an emergency.

The Seniors Information Service has information on the types of personal alarms available. 

The Independent Living Centre provides information and advice on equipment to help individuals improve their quality of life and maintain their independence. This service is free of charge and available for all members of the public. 

ILC has an extensive range of monitored systems and autodiallers for the public to browse and trial. Health professionals can advise on the most appropriate system to suit your needs, as well as provide detailed product information and supplier details.

The Personal Alert Systems Rebate Scheme helps frail older South Australians who are at risk of falls or medical emergencies to obtain a personal alert system, allowing them to live independently in their own homes for longer.
