Volume Two of the Building Code of Australia with South Australian variations is now the only regulatory document for house construction in the state. As of 1 May 2012 the South Australian Housing Code is longer an acceptable construction manual. However, it continues to apply to applications lodged for building rules consent prior to 1 May 2012.The guideline and mandatory maps in the SA Housing Code (design wind speed maps, an earthquake hazard map, corrosion environment maps, climate zone maps) can still be used in applying the provisions of the Building Code of Australia.
