The proposal

The development proposal for Encounter Bay Village Shopping Centre by Makris Corporation will be situated four kilometres south west of the existing Victor Harbor town centre.

This comprises:

  • retail floor space of 16,000 square metres, including a discount department store and supermarket
  • bulky goods retailing 20,000 square metres
  • associated car parking totalling 1,843 spaces
  • a mall environment with associated food court
  • cinemas with capacity seating for 700 people
  • community use building for a library or meeting rooms
  • recreational area comprising passive landscaped areas
  • residential development comprising 151 allotments at the north-eastern, western and south-western areas of the site.

Development timelines include:

  • public environmental report (PER) issued for consultation 19 November 2008
  • Development Assessment Commission guidelines issued – PER
  • required April 2008
    revised development application submitted 25 January 2008.
