Becoming an approved child care provider
Child care providers can apply to become approved for Child Care Benefit (CCB) purposes.
Approved child care services meet the minimum operating hours specified by the Australian government and participate in the Australian Government's quality assurance systems.
There are three forms of approved child care services:
- Centre based long day care
- Family Day Care
- Outside School Hours Care
Get information and
application for approval forms. Application forms can also be obtained by phoning DEEWR on 1300 363 079 and requesting the child care officer in your State or Territory.

Legal requirements
Child care providers can apply to the Family Assistance Office to
become a registered carer for Child Care Benefit (CCB) purposes.
Registered child care is child care provided by a range of individuals who are registered with the Family Assistance Office as registered care providers. It may include grandparents or other relatives, friends, nannies, educators and others.
